Always Running to Catch Up!

It's time to get ready for the holidays, and I am just now getting out of my summer post and into this one!  Open House at the Country Hearth Primitives, with me painting sweet children's faces with butterflies and football logos!

Meanwhile, you know who is growing and showing her stuff!  Baby T is such a wild child, now a year old, and just waiting to pull our chain at every opportunity.  I told her to stop touching something with her hand, so she put her foot on it instead, and looked at me with a gleam in her eye!!  Gotta love that spirit, although her mommy may want to shriek in frustration!  All normal, all perfect as it is.

Yep, no one and nothing is safe from her little grasp!!  She's lovely, and I am still just as enthralled with her as I was the day she was born!

Thanksgiving is on its way, so I hope to have more photos  soon, of everyone I love.

Bits and Pieces of the End of Summer

Part of my shop in Country Hearth Primitives

I love the cages, and decorating them is half the fun.

I sold this precious little shoe so fast, wish I had a dozen more, they are beautiful.

My gorgeous little granddaughter is walking now, and I think she loves it!

She's looking for that special find at the Country Living Fair in Columbus, Ohio.

Well, she did find that mums do not taste very good!

Papaw is helping her to get ready for the cold weather.

Wow!  It's the middle of Summer and I am just now getting back on here to post.  What a busy time it has been!  Babies growing, relatives getting married, car accidents, storms and fallen trees, a day job that should fade into the distance, I wish, but great times for new things, like Baby T's first two teeth, her half-crawl, or military crawl, a little more hair, and a lot of curiosity.  I'm in a new shop locally with my vintage finds and my upcycled art, so that passion continues to burn brightly, no matter how tired I might be, or how busy.  Art is my essence, my joy, my therapy!  I'm going to try to throw in a few photos here, but not sure I can capture all that has been happening!

Beautiful Things in My Life

It's still Winter, but I can feel Spring coming along right behind.  As the days pass, I thrill to watch my beautiful daughter raising her beautiful daughter, and it's a thrill that I never anticipated.  Before my son and daughter were born, I thought I knew how to love someone.  They have since taught me that learning to love is a lifetime endeavor, and the pleasure is in the continuity of that learning.  Nothing can prepare you for that level of loving, when one of your own has one of their own.  My privilege is in being the one who has fun with it all, released from the day to day responsibility that sometimes makes it hard to see the joy, now I have found the joy.  I want to express this in my art, but have not yet found a way to do so.  I will, though.  The combination of the arrival of Spring and the growing up of my lovely family is a potent experience.

Checking In and How Fun is Pinterest?

Am I so way behind everyone?  I just discovered Pinterest, and I am hooked!!!  Such fun, and I get to see my blogger friends and my facebook friends and oh so many interesting people and ideas!

This weekend will be busy, with an antiques show tomorrow morning, and my lovely grandbaby tomorrow night, then I think I will be creative on Sunday, stopping only to get a little pampering at the nail salon.

In the meantime, my little etsy shop is keeping me busy, too.  I sold my last big birdcage yesterday, and I'm hugging the box and wishing I had a place to keep it where everyone could see it.  Luckily someone wants it really badly, and she has promised to keep it and love it.

Nothing special in the air right now, just had a quiet moment on a Friday night after a very hectic week.  Hope all of you have a great weekend - create, rest, love, all the good things!

My Favorite Things

I'm having trouble coming up with something as clever as everyone else does for their blog - I need to make more time, because it is so much fun to hear from others and share news, art, ideas, challenges, etc.  This January has started off with a terrible mind block as far as my artwork goes, so I am trying to work around that block and do some fun doodling on my gourds and slates and wood pieces.

So, here are a few items I've been working on, what do you think?  The birds have never had such nice homes, ready to move in, already designed and "landscaped".  I'm thinking of a series of items painted like this, maybe a slate, a canvas bag, or a pillow - what about terra cotta pots to match??  Hmmm!

In the meantime, one of the reasons I don't take the time to blog is that I am very busy being Nana!!  Our lovely little granddaughter has captured my heart and soul, and I can't help myself!

New Year, New Goodies

I know I haven't posted anything in so very long.  It's been such a busy and amazing time, with all the little trials and tribulations of having a new granddaughter, the day job I wish I could toss out the window, and the terribly powerful urge to create.  I've just put up a few of my pieces of art on my etsy shop, www.leonard1.etsy.com, and hope to put many more up.  Here are a few shots of those items, and just a few shots of the gorgeous Baby T! You can find these goodies and more in my etsy shop, so stop in!
